Nothing to worry about.
XMLmind Ebook Compiler, AKA ebookc, a free, open source software,
leverages a commercial product called "XMLmind XSL-FO Converter"
(http://www.xmlmind.com/foconverter/) to convert the intermediate XSL-FO
file to RTF, WML, DOCX, ODT.
If you have installed XMLmind XSL-FO Converter *Evaluation* *Edition*
along ebookc to generate DOCX output, then this Evaluation Edition
generates output containing random duplicate letters. (Of course, this
does not happen with XMLmind XSL-FO Converter *Professional* *Edition*.)
More information in the "About Evaluation Edition" note in
http://www.xmlmind.com/foconverter/downloadeval.shtml
OTOH, when you generate PDF, possibly using bundled Apache FOP 2.3, this
will not happen. Apache FOP 2.3, just like XMLmind Ebook Compiler, is
also free, open source software.
