Shovon:
Heya; a very detailed bug report, thanks! Your process looks
very correct -- to connect from "PC A" and "PC "B", you should install
EchoVNC on both PC's, and connect them to the same echoServer
(also running on "PC A" in your example).
From what you describe, it doesn't look like there's an echoServer
actually running on "PC A", though. Try this: after you click the "Start
Server" button, startup EchoVNC on PC-A and connect to your echoServer
using the IP address "127.0.0.1". The 127.0.0.1 is a special "loopback
address" which always means "this same PC". See if EchoVNC can
connect to your echoServer that way.
Next, on the echoServer, click the "Check Server" button. That
will cause a web-browser to open a page to a CanUSeeMe scan.
If that scan can correctly see your echoServer running, then you
should be able to connect to that echoServer from PC-B (using
the IP address shown in the CanUSeeMe check).
Hope that helps!

Dear Helpdesk
I'm a little confused ,and here's my issue.
Echovnc version = 1.33
Echoserver version = 1.4
1 I have PC "A"(at my work) [win2K] on which
echoserver is running on
port 1328
2 I have PC "B"(at my home )[xp]
3 I want to control "B" from "A" [ thus home PC from
work PC]
I understand, the next step now is to install
'echovnc' on BOTH the PC [ am I correct ? ]
if yes,
[carrying on with the echovnc wizard installation ]
4 in the "pl. provide an IP address for the
echoserver you want to connect" screen... I should
fill in the IP of "A" [on both PC]..am I correct ?
5 in the screen "pl. provide a username you would like
to be known within your connection group", I should
fill "A" on the PC "A" echovnc wizard installation AND
PC "B" echovnc wizard installation. am I correct ?
6 in the screen "pl. provide the connection group
password for the echoserver at 'IP given at #4'" , I
should provide the password that I entered while
installing the 'echoserver' on PC "A" [# 1].
am I correct ?
7 On PC "A", at this point I get a message "echovnc
has detected a vnc server that is one of the "version
3" flavours...etc etc..would you like echovnc make
this adjustment for you "-->I pressed "yes" [on PC "A"
]
8 I'm still at work, so i go to the 'echoserver' tab
page of PC "A", highlight the only entry and
doubleclick there to see:-
IP of PC "A"
UserID of PC "A"
password of PC "A" [ # 6 above ]
I pressed connect and status turns to "connecting"
before turning to
"disconnected"
message given " sorry no echoserver could be found at
this address, etc etc."
any help, why this connection is not working on PC
"A", or what I did do wrong will be appreciated.
Thank you
Shovon
