Hey Chris,

I am using the no-ip.com dynamic ip service. It works great. I am on cable..
so my IP address changes VERY INFREQUENTLY. I have other customers who use
DSL from Verizon.. their IP changes more often than I change my
underwear..but the dynamic dns still works great for them.

One little tip. In a straightforward environment with a simple server
machine the no-ip update client is a breeze. However, if you have a few
little twists.. it can be a nightmare.. in one customer's case, they had two
network cards in the same pc, an extensive MS ISA Server firewall/proxy
server, and some other stuff, and it took a while to figure out what options
to use with no-ip's dynamic update client before I could get it to work..
but ultimately it did.

The machine that you put the dynamic update client on needs to be ALWAYS
running. If you don't like the idea of that, there are 'router based
solutions', but they are not free, I haven't used them and don't know how
good they are, but I know they exist...e.g.

Mr. Rodriguez:

Hello! The easiest way for your clients to reach your echoServer
if your ISP gives you a dynamic IP is to install a "dynamic-DNS" client
on the same PC as your echoServer. For example:

http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.html

Using that free service, you could have the FQDN =
"echo.myvnc.com"
resolve to your echoServer, regardless of what the IP address is. That
is, when your ISP changes your server's IP address, the dynamic DNS
client detects this, so the "echo.myvnc.com" name is always correct.

        Hope that helps!

cheers,
Scott
