Paul:
Heya. EchoVNC will probably run on all of your PC's, we just
setup the installer to limit it to the most recent versions of Windows.
Here's what you can try though: install it on one of your XP PC's,
then just create a zipfile of the installation folder. Send that zipfile
to your older PC's, and unzip it wherever you want. Double-click...
and it should startup. The installer doesn't load any special DLL's
into your OS folders, or set any special registry settings; it's really
just for convenient installation purposes.
As for where you should locate the echoServer, it's best to
put it somewhere where you can easily reach it from both sides of
the data connection. You only need to install one of them, so I'd
suggest running it at home. It listens to TCP-1328 by default, so you
may need to setup some port-forwarding and firewall adjustments,
which you can verify with the "Check Server" button.
Hope that helps!

Hello Admin,
I am trying to use EchoVNC with EchoServer as my VPN solution works
but is
slow. If I attempt installing it on the two host machines at work.
Both PC
give error messages that Windows versions are not correct. It seems to
install ok on my laptop(XP Home). Please can you confirm that I am
doing
correctly.
PC 1 is host1 NT4.0 at work network
PC 2 is host2 Win98 at work network
PC 3 is my laptop (XP home) at home network
PC 4 is another laptop (XP Pro)at home network
I'm trying to use VNC to the two host PC's at work via the internet
from my
PC3. I don't follow where the packet relay server should be loaded. Is
it
better to host the echo server external to my home network?. should it
be
loaded on the hosts and clients?.. You help is much welcome.
Many thanks
