Let's not mince words: Vista is a piece of crap. You know it, I know it, people like the product managers at Dell know it (remember, Dell allows you to do XP *or* Vista on many of their PCs now)... On the other hand, at my day job, I support a fair number of Vista machines, and that's where I'm working on deploying EchoVNC. So I need to know that EchoVNC will work with Vista. > Our last-ditch solution was the "compatibility mode" > of EchoVNC, such that non-EchoVNC Viewers *and* Servers can > still be used in conjunction with EchoVNC. Well, UltraVNC came up with what I consider a good-enough workaround, which is pretty cool since EchoVNC is a fork of the 1.0.2 UltraVNC codebase. Go check out that URL I gave you. What do you think? Installing both UltraVNC AND EchoVNC will not work. I know; last week I accidentally failed to install Ultra and ended up installing Echo over it, and it was a mess. (This might not be an issue with other VNC clients, but Echo's installer acts rather weird on a PC with an existing Ultra install, doing things like installing by default into \Program Files\UltraVNC.) I may try to get EchoVNC onto a couple workstations running Vista, over the next week or two. Until then, all of the Vista PCs we sell get packaged with our custom UltraVNC Single-Click executable, which works pretty well, and we'll continue using that program as long as we need to. -- Steve Sobol, Victorville, CA PGP:0xE3AE35ED www.SteveSobol.com Geek-for-hire.
