Pablo:
Hello! I was hoping you could try the beta version of
our next release and see if it helps address your issue. Please
just rename "winvnc.exe" to "winvnc.old" in the EchoVNC folder,
and replace it with this one:
ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoVNC/beta
I tried to email the zip file, but gmail bounces those.
cheers,
Scott

Hi Scott, I found there was no password key under HLM, I add the password
and I did copy the value but the same error still appears, should I restart
the server after the registry change ? or it does not matter for the
program?
Thanks a lot scott

Hello! We have found a problem related to this, and it may be the
same error. I will send you an update before the end of this week, I
hope you have time to try it!
Regarding the "registry" question, please try this:
1. From the "Start" menu, choose "Run...", and type in "regedit".
2. This will bring up an unusual file-browser which is actually
displaying the place inside of the Windows OS where it saves
almost all of its settings and the settings for most applications.
3. Over on the left side, there should be an expandable menu with
"My Computer" as the top entry, with 4 or 5 groups beneath it:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER", "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", and
possible others.
4. If you click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER ("HKCU"), or the little
"+" mark next to it, and then click on Software, it will show a list of
applications you have installed. The standard form is "Company
Name", then "Application name" under that. So EchoVNC is in
"Echogent".
5. All said ... there should be a Software/Echogent/EchoVNC/WinVNC
entry with an actual "key" value (on the right hand side) for
"Password".
That's actually where VNC stores the VNC login password (encrypted
of course). This entry should be there in both the HKCU and HKLM
registry groups. If it's not, EchoVNC will alert you with the error
you're
seeing.
Sorry for the hassle. Again, we should have an update soon...
thanks,
Scott

Hello! That's an interesting error. Did you register EchoVNC
as a
service during installation? Also, do you have an unusual registry
setup,
rather than the usual LOCAL_MACHINE and LOCAL_USER groups?
