Hello,
JCR, used by default in 5.1, allow to put blobs into database which is
convenient for backups but really not recommended when you have big files.
VCS, used by default in 5.2, always stores blobs on filesystem, there is
no flag to change this behavior.
VCS filesystem is backup-friendly: you can backup your database and then
backup the filesystem without any risk of loosing data or getting
something inconsistent.
