There was once a beautiful Canadian feminist film (made around 1985)
that's subject was also weeds. It challenged the idea of a central plot in
film making as ultimately patriarchical, so as you can imagine, it was a bit
abstract. However, the story (or situation) was this: a woman is cleaning her
new kitchen, ordering it, placing spices in drawers, sweeping the porch and
counting potatoes. Many shots are super-imposed with blueprints and recipies.
She can't seem to keep the garden out of the kitchen no matter how much
cleaning she does. Eventually she decides to follow the garden. As time
passes her kitchen is destroyed by overgrowth, she goes feral, eats food
straight from the ground. Finally, you are usure of who the story is about,
the kitchen, the overgrowth, or the architechts of both, or the woman in
between.
Just thought I'd throw that in.
