The specific tasks will be: * collect and review research on consumption patterns; * undertake a gender analysis of this research; * research and compile a database of relevant organisations and individuals working on or interested in this field; * draft a report outlining the outcomes of this research; * assist in disseminating this report, organising an international consultation seminar and inviting participants; * service a steering committee for the project; * assist in drafting a second report including the outcomes of the consultation seminar, and disseminate it; * provide support in organising a presentation of the report at the Commission on Sustainable Development 7th Session in New York in April 1999. The researcher will be managed by two consultants working with the gender team of UNED-UK. S/he should be based in London, UK, and be available to start immediately (Dec 1999).
