[EMAIL PROTECTED] ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE ISLAND OF BORNEO Education and the Environment: towards equitable and sustainable development August 5th to 10th, 1996, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia The above conference is being planned by the World Education Fellowship (WEF) in association with the University of Malaysia in Sarawak (UNIMAS). The WEF is a Non Government Organisation with consultative status with UNESCO. It was founded in 1921 and has members in 30 countries. The conference will focus attention on the important role educators at all levels can play in enhancing environmental responsibility and protection. Issues of equity and sustainability will be crucial elements. We have deliberately located the conference in one of the world's environmental `hot-spots', the equatorial rain forests of Borneo, but we also wish to include the global commons, the oceans and Antarctica.
