The next deadline for submission is MARCH 1, 1998. UNIFEM's Trust Fund in Support of Actions to Eliminate Violence Against Women supports innovative projects aimed at preventing and eliminating violence against women through advocacy, capacity building, legal literacy, gender sensitivity training, or action-related research. In 1998/99 the Fund is especially interested in projects focused on the following areas: The relation between violence and women's health, including HIV/AIDS; violence against women resulting from violations of their economic rights; the relation between exploitative images of women in mass media and culture and gender-based violence; and violence against elderly women. Proposals must include information on the applying organisation, a description of project activities, a budget ranging between US$10,000 and US$50,000, and an evaluation plan. The Trust Fund only funds discrete projects. Requests for on-going institutional support for service organisations, participation in meetings, or for projects that do not address directly the problem of violence against women - are NOT eligible for support. Proposals may be mailed or faxed to UNIFEM's relevant Regional Programme Advisor in the field, as well as UNIFEM Headquarters in New York. For more information, and for addresses of UNIFEM Regional Program Advisors, please contact UNIFEM, 304 East 45th Street, New York, NY 10017.
