Dear Susan,
I am a feminist also but there are those of us feminists who value women's
choices to be wives and mothers and value their importance in their
biological role. Feminism is about valuing women for who they are and
what they do, whether they choose to be housewives or to be out in the
workforce. Women are not men and should not aim to ape men. Women are
biologically different to men and there is womens business and there is
men's business. One of the biggest downfalls of feminism is to expect women
to be pseudo males. This was a trap into which many early feminists fell. In
my country, some of the older published feminists are now promoting family
values as important and in validating and valuing the role of women as wives
and mothers.
Many think that womens work should be valued in the Gross National Product
of our country. I believe you missed the point of the poem which was to show
the difference in theory between the way humans hold themselves out to be
"better"
than animals but yet many animals would not do half the things to this
planet that people do.
