I'm taking a class on the International Politics of Space
and I'm trying to write a paper on feminist critiques of
space (as in outer space). So far I haven't found much
information. I might use general feminist critiques of
militarism, technology, and realist IR and try to make them
specific to space programs. Things that I find
intersting are that the legal regime for space is different
from the terrestrial agreements over soverignty and
colonization, the amount of money that is spent on space
programs, space as a North-South issue, the different
reasons (political prestige, security, economic,
technological independence) for pursuing space programs,
and how it is gendered.

The professor has made himself clear that he does not want
to read a postmodern critique of the masculine language and
imagery (as in thrust, the phallic nature of rockets).
At least that is what was implied when he said he wouldn't
accept looney feminist crap.

Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!!

:o)
