I don't think the exact same beliefs are neccessary for a community for
function, vaguely similar and/or tolerance would work good enough.  For
example the Vegans could live with creophagists(meat eaters) fairly easily.
Just don't eat together if you feel that way. One word for this is federalism.
Imagine Denver(where i live) having trade negotiations with Boulder.  Wouldn't
that be beautiful?  This would also cut down on pollution, too operate a super
polluting factory requires massive centralization.  If the world was greatly
decentralized pollution would greatly decrease.  Paul Goodman in Communitas
and Hakim Bey in Millenium have many good words about this.
