6 arrested for disrupting NYC Macy's fur salon

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Six animal-rights activists disrupted a Columbus Day
sale at Macy's Monday by chaining themselves together in the store's fur
salon in Herald Square, police said. The six - three women and three men -
were charged with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting
arrest. The Animal Defense League said the activists shut down what was
advertised as the largest fur sale in the history of Macy's. There were no
injuries and police said the activists told them they did not belong to an
organization. A spokesman for the Animal Defense League said the chain's
West Coast stores had closed its fur salons in 1996. See full story
