amen to everyone who has said "lets stop screaming." dialog IS
important, and i would like to be participating in some constructive
dialog, not screaming at my computer things i do not post as i do not
want to add fuel to the fire. ecofeminism. breaking down the
boundaries of dualisms and separation. please, can we? in the latest
julia butterfly message, she writes:
"Everyone has thier own 'personal tree' to sit in. Life's circumstances
sometimes seem overwhelming, but we must remember the amazing power of
love. Just as the ripples in the ocean shape and form the land - from
the cliffs to the tiny grains of sand - so do our actions, words, and
thoughts shape and form our reality. Even more, ripples joining one
another form tidal waves that change the planet. If we make sure that
our every thought, word, and action are based in love then the ripples
we create will bring about positive change for a positive future."
thanks.

Angela, if we decommissioned all the chemical plants that make the
fertilizer that force crops from otherwise barren ground and
manufacture the pesticides, fungicides and herbicides which kill off
both other plants seeking the fertilizer's nitrogen (and other
nutrients) and our insect and fungal competition for their fruits, if we
closed all the oilwells that fuel the tankers, trucks and trains that
deliver these crops close to all our homes, and all the power plants
and communications networks that keep essential services running,
we would have a die-off of our bloated population that would make
the Black Plague seem merciful by comparison. That is the
Unabomber's solution; not mine. Instead, I am in favor of a gradual
drawdown of our population to the point where our ecosystem can
naturally support it, so we are not forced to harm the ecosystem to
sustain our numbers, a strategy that will pass the point of
diminishing returns and collapse in a finite (and not lengthy) time.
