is an organization working to eliminate poverty in Latin
America and the Caribbean.

The site features an interactive news room, a searchable
catalog of current projects, online donation opportunities,
and a free email alert subscription service.

I hope you can visit the site and share this information
with the other members of the Ecofem list. I've included
some more detailed information below. If you have any
questions, or need any other information, please feel

FOOD FOR THE POOR LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE,
VISITORS ALLEVIATE INTERNATIONAL POVERTY ONLINE

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (March 3, 2000) -- Food for the Poor
(FFP), a Christian international aid organization, launches
a new, interactive Web site this month
<http://www.foodforthepoor.org> that enables visitors to
alleviate international poverty withouth leaving their homes
and desktops.

Radically different from its original Web site, the new
<http://www.foodforthepoor.org> offers detailed project
information, news on the progress of capital campaigns and
donation challenges, and monthly appeals designed for rapid
response to pressing issues.

Currently, a special Online Projects Catalog details a
well-drilling project in Haiti, a milk provision project in
El Salvador, and plans to purchase an X-ray machine for a
Haitian medical clinic. The Online Projects Catalog is
updated frequently, and site visitors can securely donate
100% of their donations online to the featured project of
their choice. Supporters can then choose to receive
detailed email updates on the progress of these special
projects or check the Web site to track a project's
progress.

Improved features include:

-- an interactive news room containing organizational
information designed for journalists and researchers. The
section includes archived press releases, a complete media
kit, and a Special Reports section for the latest
international news. Journalists who register with the News
Room can receive an FFP Press Pass for the latest news and
alerts and access to FFP's Photo Gallery.

-- a downloadable screensaver and online postcard delivery
service. Users can share FFP's work with friends and
colleagues by sending online postcards featuring
award-winning images of FFP's missionaries and those they
help.

-- access to Food for the Poor's radio program "Angels of
the Poor." Visitors can find broadcast schedules, affiliate
stations, and audio clips of the popular program.

-- Food for the Poor's email alert service to keep donors
and other interested people abreast of new developments and
projects. Subscriptions to the email alert service are
free, and allow users to get the most accurate and current
information about Food for the Poor's international service
work.

Food for the Poor is a dynamic and quickly growing
organization that specializes in filling a variety of needs
in different ways. Established in 1982, Food for the Poor
(FFP) ministers to spiritually renew impoverished people
throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The Web site
will reflect this through the continued expansion of
services and information.
