The Center for Twentieth Century Studies at the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee is presenting an international interdisciplinary
conference on "Representing Animals" April 13-15, 2000.  Full

Among the forty speakers at the conference are Steve Baker (Historical
and Critical Studies, Univ. of Central Lancashire), Yoram Carmeli
(Anthropology, Univ. of Haifa), Jane Desmond (American Studies and
Women's Studies, Univ. of Iowa), Kathleen Kete (History, Trinity
College), Alphonso Lingis (Philosophy, Pennsylvania State Univ.), Garry
Marvin (Social Anthropology, Univ. of Surrey Roehampton), Jennifer Price
(History, Independent Scholar), Walter Putnam (French and Comparative
Literature, Univ. of New Mexico), Alan Read (Theatre Studies, Univ. of
Surrey Roehampton), Joel Snyder (Art History, Univ. of Chicago), and
Karen Warren (Philosophy, Macalester College).

The conference includes a special presentation by Dr. Jane Goodall and
is organized by Nigel Rothfels (Univ. of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) and Andrew
Isenberg (History, Princeton Univ.).
