New web-site on WSSD+5 at http://www.earthsummit2002.org/wssd

The United Nations General Assembly will hold a Special Session in Geneva, 25-30 June 2000 which will be the 5 Year Review of the World Summit for Social Development(WSSD+5 / Copenhagen+5).
This new website offers quick and easy access for NGOs and other stakeholders preparing for this important event. It provides a forum for all stakeholders allowing exchange of ideas and co-ordination of activities towards and beyond the Copenhagen review.

The site is aiming to make all relevant material available on the issues under discussion:

  • the UN documents from the Social Summit and its follow-up process
  • other stakeholders' documents such as NGOs, women's groups, youth, indigenous peoples, religious communities, trade unions, business & industry, research & education, governments and local authorities
  • international agreements from other UN processes and commissions working on social development issues
  • it offers quick downloading of all these documents, including packages of UN documents on relevant issues
  • links to organisations working on specific issues of WSSD+5 are accessible by issue (issues as identified in the 10 Commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration) and by stakeholder groups.

The WSSD+5 website provides a collection of ongoing listservers on relevant issues, we are also planning to produce documents on certain issues which are multi-stakeholder reviewed or on the basis of online discussions by various stakeholder groups for which we will provide summary reports to the UN Division on Social Development, governments and other stakeholders.
