Subject: Call for Papers -- Michigan Feminist Studies

------------------
Michigan Feminist Studies (MFS), an annual publication edited by
graduate
students at the University of Michigan, addresses current issues in
feminist and gender studies. MFS has previously published papers in
anthropology, sociology, psychology, literature, language & linguistics,
cultural and science studies, history, philosophy, art history, film,
political science, and education and welcomes submissions in these and
other disciplines. This year, we invite papers that explore the theme of
"desire" in creative ways and work to further the project of feminist
analysis. Possible approaches to the topic might include but are not
limited to:

*criminal desires/perversions/subversive desires*

*transgenderism and desire * desire in colonial regimes*

*diasporas, memories, and desire * desire for power*

*production of desire * age and desire*

*desire and instinct * desire to be(come) an other*

*cyberdesire * race, ethnicity and desire*

*genres of desire * thwarted desire * sexuality and desire*

*desire and the constitution of subjectivity and agency*

*religion and desire * desire in language/discourse*

*properties of desire * desire in historical perspective*

*desire and the state/democracy * desire and disability*

*desire and violence * desire and law*

Manuscripts should be 4,000-6,000 words and double-spaced. Submit three
single-sided copies. Please include a 150-200 word abstract, a brief
biographical note, institutional and departmental affiliation, address,
telephone number and e-mail address. Papers may be submitted in the
accepted form (e.g., MLA, APA) of your academic discipline. Submissions
are due December 1. If your paper is accepted, you will be asked to
submit
it on a computer disk.
