  * CALL FOR PAPERS *

RELIGION, ECOLOGY, AND CULTURE SECTION
American Academy of Religion/Midwest Region
Annual Meeting, Chicago, Illinois
March 31 - April 1, 2001

We are currently soliciting papers that deal in a variety of ways with the
intersection of religion, ecology, and culture. Papers on topics as
diverse as "greening" congregations, food ethics, ecofeminism,
voluntary simplicity, eco-martyrs, landscape, and "sense of place," are
welcome.
Of special interest this year are papers relating to "Green Cultural
Studies" -- that is, investigation and analysis of "nature" in film,
literature, art, architecture, music, advertising, etc. Please submit a
one-page paper proposal to the section chair at the address below by
December 1, 2000. Proposals may also be e-mailed or faxed and should
include institutional affiliation.
