WOMEN'S VOICES FOR THE EARTH WANTS AN EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR, MONTANA

Women's Voices for the Earth (WVE) wishes to hire an Executive Director.
Women's Voice for the Earth was founded in 1995, and is a non-profit
501(c)3 grassroots environmental justice organization based in Missoula,
Montana. WVE's mission is to empower women and others who historically have
had little power in affecting environmental policy, to create an
ecologically sustainable and socially just society. We believe that for
significant environmental protection and social change to take place, the
environmental movement must include and empower all sectors of the
population regardless of race, religion, economic status, sexual orientation
or gender. WVE unites people working on a broad spectrum of issues including
health, peace, conservation, justice, women's and Native American rights.
Since its inception WVE has focused its work in two areas: protecting
endangered ecosystems from mining, logging or other proposed development and
eliminating toxic pollution, while at the same time, building leadership
skills within our constituency. The Executive Director will provide the
primary executive, strategic, representational and fundraising leadership
for the organization. Responsibilities include fundraising, program
management, and serving as a spokesperson for the organization. The
successful applicant for the position will have previous leadership
experience; grassroots experience in environmental or social justice work;
strong oral and written communication skills; excellent social and
supervisory skills; proven fundraising capabilities and a demonstrated
interest in and agreement with WVE's mission and environmental programs.
The deadline for applications is February 20, 2001. Send a resume, writing
sample, list of three professional references, and a cover letter
highlighting your relevant experience to Bryony Schwan, Women's Voices for
