I just heard about a "teach-in" conference in New York city this month, hosted by the International Forum on Globalization, the New York Open Center, the International Center for Technology Assessment, the Turning Point Project, Lapis Magazine and the Nation Institute. Entitled "Technology and Globalization," it boasts speakers like Charlene Spretnak and Frances Moore Lappe, Vandana Shiva, Fritzof Kapra, and many more. The conference is Feb 24-25, 2001.
