The US Fish and Wildlife Service’s Gulf Restoration
Office<https://www.fws.gov/program/deepwater-horizon-gulf-restoration> is
comprised of an interdisciplinary team of professionals who focus on Natural
Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration in the Southeast. Employees
routinely collaborate with other Department of the Interior bureaus, U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service programs, Federal and State agencies, and other partners
to advance science-based restoration of the Gulf of Mexico and beyond through
thoughtful planning, design, implementation, and monitoring and adaptive
management. We are currently recruiting for a Fish and Wildlife Biologist
(GS-0401-11/12) to serve as the Avian Resource Coordinator, a critical addition
to the GRO’s Science Team. This position works as part of the Science Team to
support the connections between our restoration projects and our injured DOI
federal trust resources, including the 93 species of birds. The goals of the
Science Team are to 1) apply most appropriate science and monitoring by
developing, maintaining, and communicating resources for best science
practices; 2) define and implement how we evaluate and communicate success at
the project and case-wide levels; and 3) evaluate and communicate progress we
have made in restoring for the injury to our Trust resources and identify where
more could be done. Following the office’s intentional culture, we all have
customer-service mindsets focused on successful team building, collaboration,
and problem-solving that can perform as a complementary, multi-disciplinary
team. Read more on the GRO’s Science Team here in our strategic
plan<https://fws-fileshare.box.com/s/wct11g4kbmtbtn9wl7hd9fvkqhdpx3ao>. As the
Avian Resource Coordinator in the GRO, your duties would include contributing
to development, review, and monitoring of restoration projects; synthesizing
information to make adaptive management recommendations; coordinating with
other federal and state trustees on bird restoration and monitoring;
coordinating with other bird experts and restoration partners throughout the
GOM; and contributing to outreach on restoration projects. To apply and for
