Just a short comment on this. Authors do not always have reprints. Some of you may recall my posting a message I received from Springer saying that a paper of mine had been published and if my institute subscribed to Springer Online I could download the PDF. Several of you were kind enough to send me copies of my own paper, but I have not received any reprints, paper or PDF, from Springer. I have had the same experience with other journals. And my point is that if even an author cannot get copies of his own paper, it won't be easier for anyone else who cannot pay. This is a problem that needs fixing.
