Hello,

I am accepting applications from undergraduate students interested in a summer
internship in
plant ecology. This is an REU position at UCSB in the Levine lab.

The selected student will work with Jonathan Levine and myself on a study
examining germination
strategies and seed banks of 70 native annual California plant species. The
purpose of the project
is to determine how life-history strategies of native plants impact their
ability to survive and
persist in human-altered environments and under different climate change
scenarios.

The selected REU student will be involved in field work at field sites in San
Diego, Santa Barbara,
Big Sur, the central valley and northern Napa and will work at the UCSB
greenhouses, examining
seed banks from soil cores collected from throughout California. The position
also includes an
independent project component.

If you are interested please send a cv or resume along with a letter of
interest by April 7 to: Margie
Mayfield at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I will send more details about the project and the position to interested
individuals.

Thanks,

Margie Mayfield
