To the climate change debaters, I have been following this thread and have noticed that most post make the assumption that the public is ignorant about the subject of climate change and global warming. Fortuitously, we yesterday had a seminar on that very same topic here at NOAA by Dr. Jon Krosnick from Stanford University. His research on public awareness and understanding of these topics prove this assumption wrong, they both are high. It also demonstrated that the reason why the public is not as concerned as the scientific community would like them to be has nothing to do with their level of awareness and understanding. I strongly encourage those interested in the topic to seek out his work.
