Ecological Technical Support Assistant 

Job Description

Pandion Systems, Inc., an ecological consulting and environmental
communications firm, is seeking a full time technical support person for the
ecological services team. The position's main focus will be assisting
ecological technical staff with completing project tasks. The Pandion
ecological services team currently consists of 5 full time
ecologists/scientists that are engaged in dozen of projects across the
nation. Increasing project load has created a demand for a scientifically
and technically proficient and capable person to support/assist the team in
all aspects of project work. This technical assistant will be expected to
utilize their science/technical background to facilitate ecological project
work. Pandion is a 10 year old established, dynamic company based in
Gainesville, Florida with projects in Florida as well as nationwide. For

This job will require a 40 hours/ week. Pay begins at $12.00/ hour.
Applicants must be able to work Monday - Friday and have consistent office
hours. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Pandion offers health,

Job Duties/ Essential Functions 

Work in close coordination with ecological technical staff, project
managers, and team members as well as with Pandion support staff to complete
assigned tasks. Tasks may include: 

Literature retrieval and management 

Developing and maintaining project and literature databases 

Summarizing relevant technical information for reports 

Build and maintain summary tables of important data sets 

Technical report writing/editing and facilitation 

Ecological project coordination and tracking 

Coordinating document production and editing for project, proposal, and
marketing with Pandion support staff to ensure document is technically
accurate 

Project administrative support 

Client follow up as directed project manager 

Liaison with accounting on project specific finances 

Ordering equipment 

Making travel arrangements 

Mailings 

Technical and visual graphic design (charts, graphs, diagrams) 

GIS data retrieval and management- including metadata organization, data
mining, data migration 

GIS mapping cartography- including building map documents (mxd) 

Assisting with field activities when necessary 

General office admin support as requested 

 

Job Requirements: 

1. BS/BA in science related or equivalent field and relevant work experience


2. Strong technical writing and editing skills 

3. Work experience in an office environment 

4. Friendly, professional demeanor and attitude 

5. Be able to multitask and track multiple projects simultaneously 

6. Ability to work well with clients, contractors, and agency staff 

7. Experience using Microsoft Office software 

8. Availability to work full time (40 hrs) 

9. Valid driver's license 

10. Internet and email capabilities
