Short-Term Research Intern A position is available for a short-term Research Intern in Wetland Ecology at the Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans (www.cedointercultural.org). Our field station is located Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico, close to the rocky intertidal habitats, estuaries, sandy beaches and islands of the Gulf of California and the Sonoran Desert. Our organization is small, friendly and interactive; this is a great opportunity to get research experience while getting to know the environments of the Gulf of California. We are looking for someone to assist us during August 2007 with field work and sample analysis. The research project studies fish assemblage composition, habitat use and trophic interactions in salt marshes. The applicant should have at least three years of course-work in a Natural Resources field, previous research experience, and a valid driver's license. We are looking for someone with a willingness to work in teams, responsible, hard-working, able to lift 25-pounds, and with good organizational skills. Some knowledge of Spanish is also a plus. The applicant will work under physically demanding circumstances (heath) and non-regular hours. Having a car is a plus but not indispensable. We offer a $ 500 dll stipend and lodging in our field station in Puerto Peñasco. The selected applicant will be responsible for providing for personal transportation and other living expenses.
