Short-Term Research Intern

A position is available for a short-term Research Intern in Wetland
Ecology at the Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and
Oceans (www.cedointercultural.org). Our field station is located
Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico, close to the rocky intertidal
habitats, estuaries, sandy beaches and islands of the Gulf of
California and the Sonoran Desert. Our organization is small, friendly
and interactive; this is a great opportunity to get research
experience while getting to know the environments of the Gulf of
California.
We are looking for someone to assist us during August 2007 with field
work and sample analysis. The research project studies fish assemblage
composition, habitat use and trophic interactions in salt marshes. The
applicant should have at least three years of course-work in a Natural
Resources field, previous research experience, and a valid driver's
license. We are looking for someone with a willingness to work in
teams, responsible, hard-working, able to lift 25-pounds, and with
good organizational skills. Some knowledge of Spanish is also a plus.
The applicant will work under physically demanding circumstances
(heath) and non-regular hours. Having a car is a plus but not
indispensable.
We offer a $ 500 dll stipend and lodging in our field station in
Puerto Peñasco. The selected applicant will be responsible for
providing for personal transportation and other living expenses.
