I find it odd that with all the discussion of species loss on this list, no mention has appeared of a major extinction of a charismatic species, the Yangtzee river dolphin. The loss of a large mammal seems to have occurred with just a small ripple in the news, and seems much less noteworthy than the birth of a giant panda.
