The successful candidate will participate in a project that aims to gain a better understanding of soil-plant relationships in the oilsands, particularly the relationship between soil nitrogen availability indices, nutrient status, and growth performance of major boreal forest species in the oilsands region of northern Alberta. Research results will be used for advancing our understanding of equivalent land capability and supporting policy development for land conservation and reclamation in the oilsands region.
Funding is available for two years and a competitive salary will be provided. Persons with training in soil science, ecology, forestry, environmental sciences, or other related fields are encouraged to apply. Ability to communicate effectively in English and evidence of productivity from previous work and/or evidence of strong ability to publish in quality peer-reviewed journals are essential. You must be highly motivated, able to work independently but at the same time be a good team player. The position is available from May 1, 2008, or as soon as possible thereafter.
