Second Call for abstracts for AmeriDendro 2008 We invite you to participate in the First American Dendrochronology Conference - AmeriDendro 2008 - to be held June 23-27 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. The conference will highlight tree-ring research in North, Central, and South America, with studies from other areas of the world encouraged. We welcome presentations of works-in-progress, innovative directions, and controversial topics, and we especially encourage young scientists to present their research at the meeting.
We plan to have organized sessions in Dendroclimatology, Dendroecology, Dendrogeomorphology, Dendroarchaeology, Stable Isotopes, and Sclerochronology. We are planning plenary sessions/discussions on the Divergence Issue, the climate response of five needle pines, developing dendrochronology labs, and getting a job with a degree in dendrochronology. Please submit your abstract at http://www.treeringsociety.org/AmeriDendro2008/ by March 30th, 2008 to be included on the program for the conference. Suggestions for other plenary sessions or organized sessions are encouraged. Registration for AmeriDendro 2008 is $220 CAD for students and $300 CAD for all others. Reduced registration fees of $200 CAD for students and $260 CAD are available for members of the Tree-Ring Society. There are several housing options available from very affordable ($39 per night) to very fancy ($189 per night) at the Gage Towers on the UBC campus. Visit the AmeriDendro 2008 website for details on the venue, program, registration and lodging http://www.treeringsociety.org/AmeriDendro2008/. The 18th Annual North American Dendroecological Fieldweek (http://dendrolab.indstate.edu/nadef/) will be held in conjunction with the conference. The fieldweek will be held in the interior of British Columbia at the Double Diamond Hostel at Apex Mountain near Penticton (http://www.doublediamondhostel.com/ ) from June 13-21.
