Greetings.
I am teaching a new 1-week, 2-credit course at Shoals Marine
Laboratory this summer entitled Comparative Embryology and Life
History Strategies (BIOSM 382; http://www.sml.cornell.edu/sml_cc_compembryo.html)
. The course will meet from August 18 to August 25 2008. This is a 300-
level course, but the only requirement is one year of college biology
(although some experience with advanced courses would be good).
The goal of this course is to link embryology and ecology using
examples from invertebrate and vertebrate development. It combines
anatomical training typical of traditional comparative embryology
courses (now rarely offered at any university) with ecological
perspectives that can be best understood by studying animals in the
field.
I have three prospective students; I would like to have at least six,
so I would appreciate your help to bring this new course to the
attention of your students. For students who need financial aid, the
last date to apply for courses at SML is March 28, 2008; earlier is
better.
Thanks,
Willy
