Assistant Professor in Geography

The Department of Geosciences at the University of West Georgia
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position
starting August 2008. We seek a geographer specializing in geospatial
techniques and physical geography. The primary teaching
responsibilities will be introductory courses in cartography,
physical geography, geographical analysis and advanced courses in the
new hire's area of expertise. The selected candidate will be expected
to develop an independent research program and to involve
undergraduates in her or his research. Applicants should have a Ph.D.
at time of employment.

scholarly and teaching interests, transcripts, a sample research
paper (if available), and names and contact information for three or

undergraduate degrees in physical and human geography, geology, earth
science education and a Master's Certificate in GIS. The department
contains equipped and supported physical geography and geospatial
technology labs and in 2008 will move into a new, expanded teaching
and research facility. The University of West Georgia, located less
than 50 miles west of downtown Atlanta, is a growing university with
an enrollment of approximately 11,000 and is an equal
