Graduate position (MS/PhD) in landscape genetics of badgers, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I am seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic graduate student interested in landscape genetics and its application to wildlife conservation and management. This project will employ molecular genetic tools to investigate the landscape genetic structure of American badger populations in Wisconsin. This project will include a combination of field, laboratory, and analytical work, and involves collaborations with multiple universities and state and federal agencies. The initial phase of the research is best suited to an MS student, though there is potential for expansion into a PhD-level project. Successful candidates should have some prior experience with DNA-based genetic analysis. Proficiency in ArcGIS and experience in mammal trapping is preferred. Funding in the form of assistantships, research support, and travel grants are available for qualified candidates. Anticipated start date is June or August 2009.
