Two Biologist positions available at U.S. Fish and Wildlife, supervised
by Dr. Rosemarie Gnam Chief Division of Scientific Authority US Fish and
Wildlife Arlington Virginia .  The Biologist position serves as a staff
specialist in the Division of Scientific Authority. The Biologist
initiates and conducts complex technical assessments, status surveys,
and studies on plants and animals in trade; provides advice and
technical assistance on conservation, management and protection projects
overseen by the Division as well as prepares policy recommendations; and
advises Service-related offices on information relevant to the
Endangered Species Act (ESA) and the Convention on International Trade
in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Biologists will
prepare scientifically defensible reports, briefing materials, news
releases and not technical articles. They will coordinate with other
Federal, State agencies and other non-governmental organizations to
assess various aspects of the impact of international trade on
conservation of an assortment of animals and plant species. They will
also recommend proposed listings decisions and ensure the public's
involvement in decisions by preparing and publishing notices in the
Federal Register .
