My name is Lyndi Kirkman and I am a college graduate with a degree in Natural
Resource Ecology and Management, I am writing to express my interests in a
obtaining a position in research. My previous research experience includes
activities such as conducting field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments to
better interpret the ecology of insects and invasive plant species in community
ecosystems, molecular and biochemical procedures, real time PCR experience, DNA
sequencing analysis, and extensive field work with avian species.
I have had experience working for an environmental consulting company, soils
research laboratory, and an insect genetics laboratory over the past 5 years.

Experience collecting and analyzing data, and writing a journal style
manuscript which resulted in a 2007 publication in the Journal of the Kansas
Entomological Society
Led interpretive and experimental studies in the field and in a
controlled setting
Genetic research experience: biotypes, mitochondrial DNA extraction,
RAPD-PCR methods, electrophoresis, and microsatellites
Devised a bioassay assessing allelopathic effects of an invasive grass,
Old World Bluestem, on Oklahoma prairies in 2008-2009
Experience planning and implementing research goals, experiments, and
budgets
