Assistant Faculty Position in Evolutionary Developmental Biology

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Teach upper-division developmental biology courses; teach other
courses that may include
evolutionary biology and population genetics, and assist with teaching
the introductory biology
series for majors
* Develop and maintain a research program that provides opportunities
for undergraduates
* Contribute to curriculum development and other service to the university

QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM)
* PhD in Biology or related field at time of hire
* Demonstrated excellence in biology instruction
* Expertise in developmental biology
* Excellent written and oral communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRABLE)
* Specialization in evolutionary developmental biology or other
comparative approaches to
developmental biology
* Strong interest in teaching an upper division course in
developmental biology, as well as an
upper division course in evolutionary biology, comparative genomics or
population genetics
* Research interests that leverage CSUMB's location on California's
Central Coast
* Experience mentoring student research and/or internships
* Interest in teaching writing in the sciences
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary
environment.
* Ability and desire to mentor and teach students from diverse
cultural, ethnic, educational and
economic backgrounds
* Record of external funding and writing grant proposals
* Experience with course and curriculum development
* Research and teaching interests and expertise that complement and
strengthen those of existing
faculty in the department
