We have a fully-funded research assistant position available for a graduate 
student to pursue a PhD in tropical forest carbon cycling in the Ecophysiology 
and Global Change Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida 
International University, the Public University of Florida at Miami 
(http://casgroup.fiu.edu/Biology). The research will be based at the La Selva 
Biological Station in Costa Rica and is available starting summer 2012.
Additional MS/PhD opportunities on other projects active in the lab are 
available via funding by teaching assistantships.  Active research projects in 
the lab include:
Arctic ecosystem responses to climate change
Carbon and water cycling in tropical rainforest
Climate and water management effects on carbon fluxes in Everglades marsh
Structure and function in Everglades tree islands

To be eligible for positions, interested students must meet the graduate 
admission requirements of Florida International University and have competitive 
GPA and GRE scores.  With the exception of the tropical forest carbon cycling 
research assistant position, support is by teaching assistantships with summer 
funding opportunities.  Highly-qualified candidates may be eligible for 
fully-funded Presidential Fellowships.  The deadline for graduate applications
