The Sevilleta Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) program at the
University of New Mexico is seeking to fill a position at the level of
Research Scientist I. This position has a large field ecology component
and requires the ability to live at the Sevilleta Field Station from
Monday through Thursday for up to five non-consecutive months per year.
All other duties, which include managing and processing field data, as
well as ensuring that data is publicly accessible on the Sevilleta LTER
website, will be performed on the UNM campus in Albuquerque, NM.

The primary responsibility of this MS-level position is to work with other
scientists to collect and manage data for a number of long-term research
projects. The vast majority of these projects focus on plant ecology,
although some occasional small mammal work will be performed. Thus, the
successful candidate will have excellent plant identification skills and
the ability to hike long distances in a desert environment carrying field
equipment. For small mammal projects, the ability to wear a half-face
respirator is necessary. A familiarity with data management and analysis,
including the use of SAS, MySQL databases, Microsoft tools and/or
additional software packages, must also be demonstrated.

This is a term position with yearly renewal contingent upon performance
and funding. Position open until filled.
