ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Department of Biology at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC (the 
third largest university in the UNC system) invites applications for a 
nine-month tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in ecology 
and evolution of disease, including host-parasite interactions; to begin Aug. 
18, 2014. A PhD in Biology or a closely related field is required. Possible 
research approaches include integration of empirical studies with theory, or of 
ecological and evolutionary investigations; but all qualified candidates are 
encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to establish an 
externally funded research program, actively engage in classroom teaching, 
advise undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral level students, and help promote 
diversity/equal opportunity in higher education. Candidates will have excellent 
opportunities to establish collaborations within the Department and/or with 
other academic units (e.g., Brody School of Medicine, College of Technology and 
Computer Science, Institute for Coastal Science and Policy, Center for 
Biodiversity, etc.). Appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level 
may be considered for a candidate with a well-established record of teaching 
and research.
