The Department of Biological Sciences at Bridgewater State University seeks 
applications for the full time, tenure track position of Assistant Professor in 
the field of physiological or molecular ecology. We seek an individual who is 
strongly committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, developing a 
program of independent research that may include mentoring original 
undergraduate research, and advising. A newly constructed, $100M science and 
math facility provides state-of-the-art teaching and research spaces. Teaching 
requirements will include participation in: the introductory General Biology 
sequence for majors; Anatomy and Physiology and/or General Ecology; and, an 
upper level elective course in the candidate's area of expertise that will 
complement the Biology major.

The successful candidate will participate in the College of Science and 
Mathematics' accreditation process with the Council for the Accreditation of 
Educator Preparation (CAEP), required for our science teacher preparation 
programs. Candidates with experience in K-12 education or outreach and/or 
program assessment will be given preference. Opportunities exist for 
involvement in the educational outreach programs of CityLab and Watershed 
Access Lab (WAL) within the Center for Advancement of STEM Education (CASE). 
Additional opportunities may exist to offer a graduate course within our MAT 
Program in Biology.

Required minimum qualifications include excellent communication skills and an 
earned Ph.D. by June 2014. Applicants should be strongly committed to 
excellence in teaching, advising, and research, and to working in a 
multicultural environment that fosters diversity. They should also have an 
ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing, to use technology 
effectively in teaching and learning, and to work collaboratively.

Post-doctoral and teaching experience are preferred. Candidates with experience 
in K-12 education, outreach, or program assessment are of particular interest.
