I am looking for graduate students interested in microbial ecology to begin
a PhD program in fall 2014, in the Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary
Biology at Brown University. In my lab, we study the structure and function
of microbial communities in marine ecosystems, with an emphasis on the
nitrogen cycle. There are excellent opportunities for students across
campus and with partner institutions, such as the Marine Biological
Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, MA. We have collaborations with scientists
at MBL that benefit graduate students through the Brown-MBL program. The
reverse ecology IGERT program provides excellent training opportunities in
applying molecular and computational biology to ecological problems. For
