I am looking for graduate students interested in microbial ecology to begin a PhD program in fall 2014, in the Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Brown University. In my lab, we study the structure and function of microbial communities in marine ecosystems, with an emphasis on the nitrogen cycle. There are excellent opportunities for students across campus and with partner institutions, such as the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, MA. We have collaborations with scientists at MBL that benefit graduate students through the Brown-MBL program. The reverse ecology IGERT program provides excellent training opportunities in applying molecular and computational biology to ecological problems.
