Location: Bodega Bay, CA, ~1.5 hours from San Francisco

Project manager: Christine Sur (Ecology graduate student, Grosholz Lab UC
Davis)

Volunteers needed for marine ecology research focused on the effects of
climate change stresses on invertebrate communities in seagrass beds. This
research is aimed at understanding how coastal habitats will respond to
future environmental change and would suit anyone interested in applied
research, invertebrate zoology, seagrass research, or marine community
ecology.

Volunteers will help with a variety of lab and field work including field
abundance surveys and collections, identifying and counting invertebrates,
preparing tank experiments, processing eelgrass and invertebrate samples,
and maintenance of ongoing temperature/salinity experiments. Research
training will include field survey methods, invertebrate species
identification, experimental design, and seagrass research methods.
Possibility of independent projects if volunteers are able to work full
time.

Qualifications: No previous experience required. Must have transportation
to Bodega Bay (costs may be reimbursed) or able to carpool from within
Sonoma County. Should be willing to work early mornings and in variable
weather conditions to conduct field surveys.

To apply: Please contact Christine Sur with any questions. If interested,
send your availability, brief statement of interest, and resume with
