CALL FOR PARTICIPATION


Workshop: How can social media be used to explore coupled
socio-environmental systems?



The National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC) invites
applications from researchers and/or practitioners in environmental and/or
ecological fields to participate in a 2.5-day workshop exploring the ways
in which social media data (e.g., Twitter, Flickr, etc.) can be used to
investigate socio-environmental system dynamics and management. In
particular, this workshop will investigate the current state of and
identify unique challenges for using social media data to inform
socio-environmental research, and explore ways to leverage social media
data to investigate feedbacks between human and natural systems.



The workshop will be held at SESYNC in Annapolis, Maryland, July 28-30,
2014. Participant support will be provided to cover travel, lodging, and
meal expenses.
