Position: Postdoctoral Researcher (Forest management & Earth system modeling)
The Stoy Laboratory at Montana State University has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to study the impacts of forest management on the surface-atmosphere exchange of carbon, water and energy with NSF Macrosystems Biology support. Work will be in close collaboration with colleagues at the Universities of Alabama, Florida, Washington, and Wisconsin, Boston University, and the Jones Ecological Research Center. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and application of the ED2 model, use remotely sensed data products to infer forest management practices, publish results in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to team activities. Travel opportunities are available. The position start date is flexible, preferably Jan. 1, 2015 or sooner. Required Qualifications: 1. Ph.D. in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline. 2. Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish high-quality and original research, as indicated by publication in peer-reviewed journals. 3. Experience working with remote sensing data (e.g. Landsat, MODIS) and numerical computing (e.g. MATLAB, R).
