Dear ECOLOG Membership:
Please pass this announcement along to prospective undergraduate students…

PROGRAM: Summer Comparative Marine Environments from the Mediterranean to the
Caribbean
program

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: This is an 8 week summer program allows you to spend this
summer exploring
differences in marine environments, biodiversity and conservation approaches
from an island in the
Mediterranean to an island in the southern Caribbean. You begin your study
abroad experience in
Palma de Mallorca, Spain where you will learn about temperate marine ecosystems
and conservation
approaches of the Cabrera Archipelago National Park. Next you will travel to
Bonaire, Dutch
Caribbean where you will see the differences in habitats and conservation
approaches in the coral
reefs of the Bonaire National Marine Park. This is an opportunity to explore
two world famous marine
parks in seas on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean where you will gain an
understanding of the
differences in habitats and biodiversity as well as the solutions to
environmental problems facing
both islands. The program emphasizes marine conservation practices.
