I am recruiting one outstanding student to pursue a PhD in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). The student will complete surveys of small mammals in forest fragments in the SAFE project in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo as part of an experiment in small mammal-ant competition. Applicants must have previous experience with small mammal trapping and preference will be given to applicants with strong quantitative skills and any publication record.
Students will begin at HKU ASAP – by June 30, 2015 at the latest – and research in Borneo will begin shortly after. The student will be living in Hong Kong, a dynamic city with high diversity of peoples, cultures, and cuisines, but will spend 3-4 months each year conducting field research in Borneo. Postgraduate salary is HK$14,350 (US$1850) per month.
