Job Announcement: Research Hydrologists GS-1315-12 Duty Stations: Arcata, Davis, Placerville, Fresno, or Merced CA Reply Due: 15 June 2015 The USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Research Station (PSW) will be advertising two permanent research grade scientist positions in Forest Hydrology. The scientists will work with teams of federal and university scientists and public land managers to understand the short- and long-term impacts of modern forestry practices on key watershed processes in the Sierra Nevada and the coastal forests of northern California. Participation in national and international research projects will also be encouraged. The successful candidates will be responsible for designing and carrying out experiments to assess stream flow, sediment production, and other hydrologic processes of scientific and societal interest. We anticipate one position will be located in Arcata, CA, with lead responsibility for research at Caspar Creek Experimental Watersheds. The other position will have lead responsibility for the Kings River Experimental Watershed study in the southern Sierra Nevada. The duty station for the second position will be negotiable among Davis, Placerville, Fresno, or Merced CA. Both positions require a Ph.D. degree, with postdoctoral experience preferred.
