The Department of Biology invites applications for a 9-month tenure- track faculty position in the area of Community Ecology, starting July 1, 2016. We are searching for an empirical ecologist who studies relationships between interacting species and their environment as part of the UCR Strategic Planning Vision in Renewable Nature: Environment, Energy, and Sustainable Development. Examples of research focus could include (but are not limited to) the functional ecology of communities, community assembly, consumer-resource dynamics, evolutionary ecology (including ecological genetics and genomics), interactions between ecology and evolution, and responses of communities to stressors such as climate change and invasive species using an integrative array of techniques such as GIS, sensors, molecular biology and genomics/bioinformatics. The ideal candidate will have a strong field component to their research and expertise in advanced statistical techniques. The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of researchers in the Department of Biology, The Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology Graduate Program, the Center for Conservation Biology, the Center for Invasive Species Research and the Institute for Integrative Genome Biology, and have access to modern campus facilities in bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, microscopy, stable isotope analysis, geographic information systems, ecological sensing technologies and field stations and facilities.
